Mental Illness is a frightening thing to live with but even what I’ve said right there is an example of how we can help to play our part in our own mental well-being. I use the term “to live with” where a lot of the time people refer to “suffering from” an illness. Our vocabulary is a powerful thing and we hear ourselves speak all day every day so we need to be aware of how we speak to ourselves.

My ambition now it to make a difference in Mental Health in all the areas I can. I’ve been privileged to speak with politicians who have raised motions in Parliament commending my contribution to Mental Health Services and courage in writing my book. I am having regular input working alongside both Current Health Professionals and future ones. I speak and share with small groups and large groups, and in doing all these things I hope I can make someone else’s journey a little easier and provide a little hope where I know there feels no end to their struggle.
